On September 15-16, 2020, the ODCC 2020 Open Data Center Summit with the theme of "New Data Center Infrastructure, New Journey in the Sea of Stars" was held at the Beijing International Convention Center. This summit was hosted by the Open Data Center Committee (ODCC) and organized by Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu, China Telecom, China Mobile, CAICT and Intel. Industry authoritative experts and representatives of well-known enterprises from various fields of the data center industry chain gathered together to share and exchange views on the hot trends, cutting-edge innovations, latest products and solutions of the data center.

At the main forum of the summit, Cao Yun, Director of Optical Transmission Network of FiberHome, delivered a keynote speech on "Pioneering Optical Network, Facing DCI Revolution", expounding the technology concept and practice of FiberHome data center interconnection from the five aspects of simplicity, openness, intelligence, ultra-broadband and high security. FiberHome released the single-wavelength 800G DCI solution and made a live demonstration, fully demonstrating deep technology accumulation and innovation capabilities in data center interconnection scenarios.

The new infrastructure is the cornerstone of the digital economy, and the data center is the cornerstone of the new infrastructure. The accelerated deployment of new infrastructure has prompted data centers to become the focus of attention of the entire industry and the entire society. With the rapid development of cloud computing, big data,AI, edge computing and other technologies, the east-west traffic bandwidth requirements between data centers are also expanding rapidly. Through continuous in-depth research on data center interconnection scenarios and customer needs, FiberHome continues to enrich and evolve DCI products and solutions to fully meet customers' demands for large bandwidth, low latency, fast deployment, easy operation and maintenance, and high reliability, striving to consolidate the cornerstone of the development of the digital economy.

Simplicity
FiberHome FonST 1000 D2 is a photoelectric integrated pizza-box DCI platform that integrates OT and OLS. The sub-rack with 2U height can be configured by customers flexibly, fully matches the hardware architecture of the data center infrastructure, greatly simplifies the installation and operation and maintenance of customers. Compared with traditional WDM equipment, under the same transmission capacity, FiberHome DCI can reduce its space occupation by 80% and power consumption by 77%, which greatly saves customer cabinet space and makes data center operations more green and efficient. At the same time, the simplified design architecture reduces data center interconnection TCO significantly.

Openness
In terms of standard network architecture, FiberHome DCI continues to iteratively evolve based on northbound interfaces, standard controllers, southbound interfaces, and box devices. Regarding the standard interface model, the southbound interface based on Openconfig is easy to expand and manage multi-vendor devices. In the process of openness, FiberHome has always maintained close cooperation with major international operators and standardization organizations to continuously promote the efficiency and verification of DCI open source iteration.

Intelligence
By adding AI to the optical network, it can solve the problems of alarm location and troubleshooting, OSNR monitoring and accurate evaluation, flexible traffic adjustment and congestion prevention and control in optical network operation and maintenance, thereby inspiring optical networks to move toward intelligence autonomously. Such as automatic alarm correlation, intelligent root alarm analysis, etc. to realize intelligent troubleshooting and greatly improve operation and maintenance efficiency. In addition, AI-based active operation and maintenance can conduct regular mining, trend control, and early prevention of slowly-changing faults caused by component degradation. In the future, AI will cover the entire life cycle of "planning, construction, maintenance, and optimization" of optical networks.

Ultra-broadband
Higher spectrum efficiency, more channel resources, and stronger scheduling capabilities are effective ways to increase bandwidth. FiberHome released a single-wavelength 800G DCI at this summit, with a channel spacing of 100GHz, a single-fiber transmission capacity of 38.4T, compatible with 100GE, 400GE service access. Transmission performance can be increased by 3 times with the introduction of Nyquist sub-carrier modulation in the electrical domain. At the same time, FiberHome also released the board supporting for coherent 400G QSFP-DD, with a single slot capacity of 1.6T, so that the capacity of single sub-rack reaches 12.8T. FiberHome DCI products support pluggable WSS boards with a maximum dimension of 32, ensuring flexible access from 100G to 800G and smooth access for 800G beyond, and it supports the evolution to CDC-G ROADM. In addition, it can also be perfectly interconnected with the FiberHome OXC platform to further improve the wavelength-level scheduling capability. What’s more, FiberHome's self-developed 400G silicon photonics chip has the conditions for mass production, and the self-developed 400G CFP2-DCO was launched at this summit, continuing to provide customers with a high-performance ultra-BB experience.

High Security
The combination of FonST 1000 D2 and box-type quantum security system SQKD 1000A/B achieves the mixed transmission of quantum channel and classical WDM channel, ensuring high security and high reliability of data center data interconnection.

In recent years, FiberHome has achieved fruitful results in cutting-edge research on optical networks. It has realized a 1.06P ultra-large-capacity optical transmission system, launched a large-capacity OXC system, and took the lead in mass production of high-speed silicon optical chips, continuing to lead industrial development in the field of optical networks. FiberHome DCI solutions have been widely deployed in multiple industries such as the Internet, cloud service providers, radio and television, government and enterprises, to help customers succeed in business. FiberHome will uphold its original intention and work with its partners to continue to expand the broad market for data center interconnection, build a data center interconnection artery, and instill vitality into new infrastructure.
