Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Unveiled: World’s First Wi-Fi 7 Solution For Blistering 5.8Gbps Connectivity

   Updated:2022-03-07
San Diego wireless communications leader, Qualcomm, is laying claim to the worlds first commercially available Wi-Fi 7 solution for a range of devices, from laptops and smartphones to tablets and AR/VR mixed reality headsets and more.
based on the Wi-Fi 7 standard, Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7800 will deliver peak speeds of 5.8Gbps and sub-2 millisecond latency, with High Band Simultaneous (HBS) Multi-link technology for link aggregation, and a huge performance lift at half the latency of previous generation WiFi-6/6E solutions that top out at around 3Gbps. Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7800 wireless connectivity solution also supports the company’s new Dual Bluetooth and Snapdragon Sound technologies with advancements in power consumption, reduced connection times, increased range and simultaneous multi-device connectivity, for lossless CD quality audio when paired to Snapdragon Sound enabled devices.

Wi-Fi 7 is still an emerging wireless standard with the Wi-Fi Alliance, but Qualcomm is obviously leading the charge here and out in front with a full SoC (System on Chip) solution that brings a combination of Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, along with advanced Bluetooth features, into a single module and radio solution typically found in a myriad of client devices. Utilizing High Band Simultaneous (HBS) Multi-link technology, FastConnect 7800 will drive dual radios with four links across the 5GHz (240Mhz channel) and 6GHz (320Mhz channel) spectrums, topping out at 4.3Gbps or 5.8Gpbs aggregate throughput, respectively. This also frees up precious 2.4Ghz spectrum bandwidth for other Bluetooth and IoT devices as well.
