5G is already a reality for at least three years, but there are still a lot of countries that are yet to deploy their 5G networks. However, the technology is always evolving and it can’t simply wait for the slowpoke. This means, that several companies are already working on the next big thing – 6G. In fact, the development and research for 6G have started while 5G was still giving its first steps. There is no timeline for the arrival of this standard, but companies like LG are already here to demonstrate the capabilities of the sixth-generation network.

LG has announced that it is taking part in the “2021 Korea Science and Technology Exhibition” held at KINTEX and Ilsan from 22nd to 24th December to demonstrate the Research and Development achievements in 6G wireless transmission and reception. At this event, LG is unveiling a power amplifier for 6G for the first time. It was jointly developed with Germany’s Fraunhofer Research Institute. LG used this power amplifier in Berlin, Germany in August to successfully transmit and receive wireless data over 100 meters in a straight line outdoors using the 6G terahertz (THz) frequency band.
